How to Force Google Search Dark Mode on Windows 10 or Android

There are two ways to force google search dark mode on windows 10 or android; one requires an application, the other doesn’t. Enable dark mode in Google search

This method only works if you use the Google Chrome browser. Enabling forced dimming is a unique feature of Chrome that allows you to enable forced dimming in Google Search.

Since this feature forces dark mode on all web content, it will affect all other web pages opened in Chrome. There is currently no way to force dark mode just for Google search or individual websites. Here’s how to enable forced dark mode in Chrome for PC or Android.

Enable forced dark mode in Chrome

In the Google Chrome browser, enter the following address in the URL address bar.


This address will take you directly to the Enforce Dark Mode option in Chrome’s settings menu, which is otherwise hidden.

Then click on the drop-down menu (default) next to the Force Dark Mode option and select Enabled. Once selected, click Restart or simply restart Chrome for the changes to take effect.

Enabling forced dark mode in Android Chrome

To enable Force Dark mode in the Chrome app on your Android device, follow the same steps as above: type chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark in the URL bar of the Chrome app and select Enabled under the Force Dark Mode option for web content.

Other dark mode options in Chrome

There are several other dark mode settings you can choose from:

  • Light up with a simple HSL-based inversion.
  • Activated by a simple CIELAB-based inversion
  • Lights up with a simple RGB-based inversion.
  • Lights up when the image is selectively reversed.
  • Lights up when non-image elements are selectively inverted.
  • Activated by selective inversion of the entire

Each of these settings uses a different algorithm to mathematically describe how the colors should appear on a web page to create a dark theme. Some settings may produce more accurate and visually appealing results on some websites than others.

You can choose Enabled first (Chrome’s default for dark mode) and later revert to this option if you’re not happy with the way the colors look in dark mode. In most cases, the default On is sufficient to create a dark theme for most websites. If you experience problematic visual errors on certain websites, you can try different dark mode settings.

You can change these settings on some of your most visited websites, such as. Google Search or Google Home, test and experiment to see which setting gives the best results with minimal visual errors. It all depends on your personal preferences.
